Owo massacre, Gov Akeredolu orders LG Chairmen to set up vigilantes

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi of Ondo State, lamenting the massacre of Christians in a Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State,  last Sunday, has ordered Executive Chairmen of the 18 local government councils establish vigilantes to serve as community security guards in their various local units. The governor empathized that community security guards Areas will strengthen security at the grassroots in rural communities.

Governor Akeredolu said that the community security guards will be reinforced by the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corp, which he said train the Vigilante operatives for effective security of their various communities.

Governor Akeredolu, hosting Chairmen of Local Governments in Ondo State on condolence at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure, after the massacre of worshipers at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, asserted that every local government should have vigilante group to complement the efforts of the Amotekun Corps and other security agencies in the state

ALGON Chairman in Ondo State, Augustine Oloruntogbe, on behalf of LG Chairmen, condoled the Governor and the people of the state, the people of Owo including families of the victims.

The State government said 22 people were killed and 56 when terrorists attacked worshipers at the Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Owo, on Sunday; but the Catholic Church said 38 worshipers were killed.
