The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as a “poor choice” for Nigerians and asserting that no patriotic citizen or serious political group will support him or the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, declared that the PDP remains the only viable political force capable of unseating the APC, citing the party’s national reach, grassroots presence, and public support.

“The PDP is the only party that can unseat the APC. We have the support, the base, and a national spread,” Ologunagba stated. “There is no community without PDP members because it is truly the people’s party. Nigerians are eager for the PDP’s return.”

Ologunagba criticized the Tinubu-led APC government, highlighting the worsening economic hardship, widespread insecurity, and policy failures, which he said have left Nigerians in despair.

“President Tinubu is a bad market,” he said. “No Nigerian going through the hardship in the country today will support the APC or President Tinubu in 2027.”

He downplayed recent defections from the PDP to the APC and the formation of a new opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that the PDP remains a resilient, organic, and formidable political structure.

“The bulk of our members and even apolitical Nigerians continue to look up to the PDP. Those defecting are not doing so based on ideals but out of frustration due to insecurity and poverty,” Ologunagba explained.

He also referenced a recent attack on the PDP’s Anambra State candidate in Abuja as further proof of the APC’s failure to ensure security and civil order, labeling the current administration as “rudderless and irresponsible.”

Despite internal challenges, Ologunagba said the PDP remains united and committed to rebuilding Nigeria. He cited collaboration among the Board of Trustees, Governors’ Forum, National Working Committee (NWC), and National Assembly caucus as a demonstration of the party’s readiness to offer Nigerians a credible alternative.

“We welcome disagreements within the PDP without being disagreeable. That is how we continue to recalibrate and reconnect with the people,” he said, drawing a contrast with what he described as the APC’s intolerance for dissent.

Commenting on the July 12 Lagos State local government elections, Ologunagba described the 6% voter turnout as a clear “vote of no confidence” in the APC—even in Lagos, regarded as Tinubu’s stronghold.

“That turnout shows how disillusioned Nigerians are with the APC. Come 2027, it will not be about writing election results—it will be about Nigerians speaking with their votes, and they will vote the APC out,” he concluded.

The PDP’s strong rhetoric signals its intent to consolidate its base and mount a serious challenge to the APC’s political dominance ahead of the next general election cycle
