The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Senator Dino Melaye of Kogi State over allegations of anti-party activities, according to a memo obtained by reporters on Friday.

The suspension was initiated by the ward executive committee in Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 after they reviewed a report from the disciplinary committee investigating Melaye’s recent actions.

The PDP stated that Melaye’s suspension is a response to actions perceived as harmful to the party’s unity and interests. “The suspension of Senator Dino Melaye is a result of his alleged anti-party activities, which have been deemed detrimental to the party’s interests and unity,” the party said in an official statement.

This suspension follows a pattern of similar actions taken by the PDP against members accused of undermining the party. In August 2024, Peter Babalola, a prominent party figure from Osun State, was suspended for alleged anti-party activities and failing to attend party meetings for two years.

Similarly, former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, faced suspension by the Benue PDP over similar accusations.

The PDP’s actions underscore its commitment to enforcing party discipline and maintaining cohesion within its ranks. As details of Melaye’s suspension continue to emerge, the party’s firm stance against internal dissent remains clear.

In a related development, the Benue PDP has summoned Senator Gabriel Suswam and others for alleged gross misconduct and anti-party activities, signaling that the party is prepared to take decisive action against any member whose actions are perceived as threatening to its stability.

Further updates on these developments are expected.
