Police arrest Officer implicated in viral video on alleged illegal duty/political clash

The Kogi State Police Command has arrested an officer exposed in a viral video, who was on alleged illegal duty and involved in political clash in the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Command, SP William Ovye Aya, in a statement on Thursday, indicated that “the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State  Command, CP Bethrand C. Onuoha, has ordered for an investigation into a trending video where a Police Officer was seen in the pool of his blood as a result of the Political clash in Idah.”

According to the PPRO, the Commissioner, while condemning the incident noted that the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department has been tasked to commence investigation.

The CP reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to continue to engage the critical stakeholders in Election Security Management to ensure a secure environment for electoral process.

The CP declared that the Command is ever determined in providing a level playing ground for all Political Parties as they embark on campaigns, rallies, procession among others.

He sternly warned would-be trouble makers who are hell bent on causing violence and to undermine the credibility of the electoral process in the State to stay away from such act as the Police in synergy with other Security Agencies in Election Security

Management will not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone caught disrupting the electoral process, the CP cautioned.

Kogi is one of the states the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is conducting isolated governorship election which holds in November.  Apparently, electioneering campaign is in full swing in the state.

Other states INEC is conducting governorship election in November include Bayelsa and Imo.
