The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of ten victims in a failed kidnap attempt by bandits on the Kukar Babangida/Yan Gayya feeder road in Jibia Local Government Area of the state.
The command through its spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu confirmed on Tuesday that the rescue operation was carried out by operatives of the command in collaboration with men of the Nigerian Army.
Speaking to the press, Aliyu said the joint team was on patrol when the bandits began firing at them.
He added that the security team returned the fire foiled the bandits’ attack, and rescued the victims.
Aliyu further stated that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa commended the officers for the gallantry effort displayed during the operation.
The CP equally appealed to residents to support the command and other security agencies with timely information to swiftly take action against all forms of criminality.

The command’s spokesperson partly said: ”On Feb. 25, at about 10.40 p.m, the police command in collaboration with the military foiled a bandit attack and rescued 10 kidnapped victims along Kukar Babangida to Yan Gayya feeder road, Jibia Local Government Area.
“The joint team while on routine patrol along the road, came under serious fire by some suspected armed bandits in their numbers, armed with dangerous weapons like AK-47 rifles.
”Promptly, the operational competent patrol team returned fire and succeeded in foiling the attack and rescued 10 kidnapped victims.”
