The Nigerian Police Force has declared one Mr Kelvin Onome Akpoguma wanted for allegedly taking part in homosexual acts contrary to the Federal Government of Nigeria’s same-sex marriage prohibition Act 2013, which was signed into law in 2014.
The indecent practice allegedly involving Kelvin Onome Akpoguma and his sexual partner Osas Osayanmo, is said to have been going on for years now, until luck ran out of them on March 29, 2024, when law enforcement officers were called in Ugbowo Uselu, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.
According to the interim police investigation report released by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Uselu, Benin City, Nigeria, and cited by our Reporter yesterday, the police division received information on March 29, 2024 at around 12pm that Kelvin Onome Akpoguma and Osas Osayanmo were observing an unlawful sexual relationship between them.
According to the report, following the information received, entry was made and the case referred for detailed investigation. The complaint which was made through a tip-off led to the investigation and arrest of Osas Osayanmo who provided a confessional statement to the police that he is a sexual partner to Kelvin Onome Akpoguma, stating further that they were caught in his house and Kelvin was able to escape before the arrival of police.

“We declare Mr. Kelvin Onome Akpoguma wanted in connection with the violation of the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act 2013, which was passed on January 7, 2014,” the police said in a statement, while urging other security agencies to apprehend the fleeing Kelvin.
The police statement said: “We hereby declare Mr. Kelvin Onome Akpoguma wanted for violating the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act 2013. He was alleged to have engaged in homosexual practice with one Mr. Osas Osayanmo who confessed to our agents after his arrest, that he had been having sexual relations with him Kelvin.
“Osas was arrested on March 29, 2024 with the help of residents of his neighborhood who called and reported the case to the police. After much investigation and interrogation, he disclosed that Kelvin has been his sex partner since their Polytechnic days.
Anyone with useful information about the whereabouts of Mr. Kelvin Onome Akpoguma should please contact the nearest Police Station or law enforcement agency for proper prosecution,” the statement adds.
