Civil rights advocacy group:-
HUMAN RIGHTS WRITERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (HURIWA) said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not different from Sunday Igboho, the ethic leader of Yoruba nation in the president’s tribalised, nepotistic and ethincised pattern of picking on only Yorubas for appointments into strategic national economic team of his administration.
HURIWA recalled that British Broadcasting Corporation online medium identified Mr. Sunday Igboho as follows: “The Nigerian separatist who wants a Yoruba nation.
He is leading agitations for breakaway states in Nigeria are nothing new and a controversial car salesman has emerged as the latest figure calling for a Yoruba nation in the country’s south-west.
Besides, BBC says, Sunday Igboho who is hailed as a hero by his supporters, Sunday “Igboho” Adeyemo is seen as a dangerous rabble rouser by his opponents, accused of inciting ethnic hatred and stockpiling illegal weapons.
Mr Adeyemo first achieved some national notoriety last October when he used the country’s Independence Day to call for the creation of an independent Yoruba republic, although he was widely ridiculed for the idea at the time.
He is being taken more seriously now, as he has become a lightning rod for grievances related to land rights.
HURIWA said the continuous insistence by President Tinubu to appoint only his Yoruba South West kinsmen and women to head the most important economic affiliated national offices, has raised mutual suspicions of a hidden
YORUBA AGENDA in the near future just as the Rights group has called on all right thinking Nigerians to mount pressure publicly on the president to behave like a statesman and give equal treatment to all ethnic groups in the appointments he makes into key economic spheres.
HURIWA lamented that even as recent as 24 hours ago, Tinubu replaced the retiring Yoruba born Accountant General of the Federation with another Yoruba person as acting Accountant General of the Federation thus continuing with the Yorubanisation of his core mandate holders in his administration just as he gives fringe positions to persons from the Igbo speaking South East of Nigeria in what represents clear discrimination against certain ethnic groups in the Country.
HURIWA said the lack of inclusivity has made a lot of Nigerians to draw a parallel between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leader of the Yoruba nation’s secessionist group: Sunday Igboho.
HURIWA listed the key economic appointees of Tinubu’s administration as follows: the minister of finance and economic planning
Wale Edun of Lagos State who
