Nigerian music sensation Divine Ikubor, better known by his stage name Rema, recently made headlines with a remarkable gesture of gratitude.

The award-winning artist donated a substantial sum of N105 million to Christ Embassy, the church that played a pivotal role in supporting his family during one of their most challenging periods.

During the thanksgiving service, he pledged N40 million towards the church’s infrastructure, ₦20 million to support Rhapsody of Realities, N25 million for the infrastructure of the teens’ church, and an emotional pledge of N20 million to all the widows in attendance.

The donation, made public during a recent church service, was not just a testament to Rema’s generosity but also a deeply personal act.

Rema, who has become a global Afrobeat icon, spoke emotionally about the difficult period following the death of his father. His family, struggling with grief and financial instability, found solace and support in the arms of Christ Embassy.

“Christ Embassy was there for us when we had nothing,” Rema shared. “The church stood by my family when my father passed away. They provided not just spiritual support, but they also helped us financially and emotionally. I would not be where I am today without the kindness and support we received from this community.”

Rema’s journey to stardom has been nothing short of extraordinary. Born in Benin City, Edo State, Rema was raised in a modest home.

He developed a passion for music at an early age, often performing in his local church. Despite the challenges following his father’s death, Rema remained determined to pursue his dreams.

His hard work paid off when he was discovered by D’Prince, a prominent Nigerian artist and record producer, leading to his signing with Jonzing World, a subsidiary of Mavin Records, in 2019.

Since then, Rema has become one of Africa’s most prominent young artists, gaining international recognition with hits like “Dumebi,” “Iron Man,” and “Calm Down.” His unique blend of Afrobeat, trap, and pop has resonated with a global audience, earning him numerous awards and nominations.

Rema’s decision to give back to Christ Embassy reflects a deep-seated belief in the importance of gratitude and community. “I believe in giving back to those who helped me when I was at my lowest,” he said.

“This donation is not just about the money; it’s about showing appreciation and ensuring that the church can continue to help others in need, just as they helped my family.”

The impact of Rema’s donation extends beyond the church walls. It serves as an inspiration to others, particularly young people, to remember their roots and give back to their communities.

In a world where many are focused on personal success, Rema’s actions remind us of the power of kindness, gratitude, and the importance of supporting one another.
