Speculation over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Al Nassr has intensified following reports that the Portuguese superstar has a €50 million release clause in his current contract, amid growing tensions with the club’s ownership structure.

The 40-year-old forward was notably absent from Al Nassr’s Saudi Pro League clash against Al Riyadh on Monday, with reports indicating that Ronaldo is currently on strike.

His absence has further fuelled rumours of an imminent departure, with sources suggesting the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star is weighing his options ahead of the June transfer window.

According to reports, Ronaldo is considering leaving the Saudi club at the end of the season, with potential destinations including a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States or a return to European football.

While no formal talks have been confirmed, the existence of a €50 million release clause is believed to make an exit legally and financially feasible.

At the heart of Ronaldo’s dissatisfaction is his alleged frustration with the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, which acquired majority stakes in Al Nassr, Al Hilal, Al Ittihad, and Al Ahli in 2023.

The Portugal captain is said to be unhappy with how Al Nassr has been treated under the PIF’s ownership model.

Sources close to the situation claim Ronaldo believes the PIF has restricted Al Nassr’s ability to strengthen their squad, allegedly in an effort to balance competitiveness among the state-backed clubs.

He reportedly feels this approach has hindered Al Nassr’s title ambitions, despite his personal contributions and high expectations when he joined the club.

Ronaldo’s concerns come at a critical stage of the season, as Al Nassr continues to chase domestic and continental success. His possible exit would represent a major setback for the club, both on and off the pitch, given his influence, commercial value, and global profile.

As of now, neither Al Nassr nor the PIF has officially commented on the reports.

However, with the summer transfer window approaching, Ronaldo’s situation is expected to remain under intense scrutiny, with football fans worldwide closely watching his next move.
