SAMSUNG Electronics West Africa, in partnership with Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, has commissioned 30 electronic boards in the school, a joint initiative aimed at improving students’ learning experience.
The new technology in the classroom, Samsung says, is set to change dramatically how students learn and teachers pass on instructions. To lead this education revolution, Samsung has launched ‘Classroom digitization’ at Redeemer’s University, in collaboration with one of its key partner, Beecit Solutions, who also worked to deliver advanced solutions for the digital classroom.
Already, the widespread adoption of tablets, mobile applications, social networks and digital content is having a profound effect on students around the world, including Nigeria. Thus, they expect their learning environment to be digital and interactive. “We are committed to partner with this university to ensure that you achieve your goals in terms of digitization, says Mr. Charles Ojei, Director, Samsung Enterprise Business, Samsung Electronics West Africa. Ojei also stressed that the partnership was to enhance the learning ability of the students, promising that Samsung would continue to support the institution.
The Samsung e-boards are in-built with powerful software that provides simplified direct access to e-books, CDs, videos, animations, images, -PowerPoint presentations, learning materials and internet content. “The e-boards will help to deliver rich content and interactivity to the classrooms. It will also provide the teachers with greater control over their classrooms and increase student engagement while ensuring a more efficient transfer of materials to students. It will aid more participation, more efficient communication and an improved classroom management and performance, states Anu-Rotimi Agboola, Head, Enterprise Display Solutions, Samsung Electronics West Africa.
Thirty e-boards have been launched at Redeemer’s University, making them the first institution in Nigeria with the largest e-board distribution.
According to Samsung, the traditional projectors used for presentations pose visual distractions and face limits in their capabilities. The Samsung interactive e-board solution with touch screen technology delivers higher readability with greater brightness and full high definition (FHD) quality. In addition, the interactivity provided by Samsung interactive e-boards helps hold the attention an audience and increases participation, hence, enhancing the overall learning and information sharing experience.
On his part, Vice-Chancellor, Redeemer’s University, Professor Adebowale Adeyewa, said “Redeemer’s University is committed to bringing new technology closer to our students, while shaping their destinies. Our partnership with Samsung is yet another step in this direction. We believe that this collaborative learning environment will improve students’ retention rates.”
Adeyewa added that the collaboration will simplify learning experience for both the students and the lecturers who are desirous of acquiring the best as far as learning is concerned. “We are one of the best universities in the country and we are ready to improve the university through information technology.
He, however, urged the students to embrace this change and make judicious use of the facilities, noting that the e-board has been installed in all classrooms in the university.
Also responding to the gesture on behalf of the students of the University, the President, Redeemer’s University Students Association, Akinnuga Samuel, assured that the students would see the equipment as a rare opportunity for quality learning and uses them as such.
“We can proudly say that our future starts now. We are also proud of the management for its effort at providing qualitative education for us,” Samuel said.
