UEFA’s members have boasted some great footballers and prolific goalscorers throughout history. Here are the all-time highest scorers from each UEFA member nation

1. Albania (Erjon Bogdani)
Albania’s all-time top goalscorer is Erjon Bogdani, who scored 18 goals in 75 appearances for the national team and was named Albanian Footballer of the Year in 2005.

2. Andorra (Ildefons Lima)
Despite being a defender, Ildefons Lima is the top scorer for Andorra, with 11 goals in his 26-year international career, which ended in 2023. He has 137 caps for his country.

3. Armenia (Henrikh Mkhitaryan)
Former Arsenal and Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is the greatest player to play for Armenia and is the country’s top scorer, finding the net 32 times in 95 appearances.

4. Austria (Toni Polster)
Toni Polster scored 44 goals in 95 games for Austria, representing his country from 1982 until 2000. He played at the 1990 and 1998 World Cups.

5. Azerbaijan (Emin Mahmudov)
Mahmudov has bagged 14 goals in 53 games for Azerbaijan. He is the third player in the nation’s history to score ten or more goals.

6. Belarus (Maksim Romashchenko)
Maksim Romashchenko is the only player in Belarussian history to score 20 goals for his country, doing so in 64 games. He most notably played for Dynamo Moscow.

7. Belgium (Romelu Lukaku)
Romelu Lukaku scored 85 goals in 120 games for Belgium, putting him at the top of the Belgian scoring charts by more than 50 goals. He scored four goals at the 2018 World Cup when Belgium finished third.

8. Bosnia (Edin Dzeko)
Former Manchester City and Inter Milan star Edin Dzeko is Bosnia’s top scorer, netting 67 in 139 games. He is also their top appearance maker.

9. Bulgaria (Dimitar Berbatov)
With 48 goals in 79 games for Bulgaria, Manchester United legend Dimitar Berbatov is his country’s top scorer, beating out legends Hristo Stoichkov (37) and Hristo Bonev (43)

10. Croatia (Davor Suker)
Davor Suker is regarded as one of the greatest strikers of all time. He has scored goals for Real Madrid, Sevilla, and Arsenal. He is Croatia’s record scorer, netting 45 goals in 69 games.

11. Cyprus (Michalis Konstantinou)
Michalis Konstantinou is Cyprus’ all-time top scorer, netting 30 goals in 78 games. He is four ahead of Giannis Okkas, who played over 100 games for the national team.

12. Czech Republic (Jan Koller)
Known for his 6ft8 height and incredible heading ability, Jan Koller scored 55 goals in 91 games for the Czech Republic. He represented them at three European Championships and the 2006 World Cup.

13. Denmark (Poul Nielsen)
Poul Nielsen played for Denmark early in the 20th century, developing an incredible goal record. He scored 53 in 39 and averaged a goal every 68 minutes.

14. England (Harry Kane)
Bayern Munich star Harry Kane is England’s record goalscorer, netting 69 in 103 games. He scored a record-breaking 54th goal against Italy in a Euro 2024 qualifier.

15. Estonia (Andres Oper)
In 134 games for Estonia, Andres Oper scored 38 goals, topping the Estonian scoring charts by 11 goals.

16. Faroe Islands (Rogvi Jacobsen/Klaemint Olsen)
Jacobsen and Olsen have both scored ten goals for the Faroe Islands. However, with Olsen still playing at 34, he still has the chance to claim the outright record.

17. Finland (Teemu Pukki)
Former Norwich City star Teemu Pukki has overtaken Finnish great Jari Litmanen as Finland’s top scorer, scoring ten more goals than Litmanen (42) in ten fewer games (127).

18. France (Olivier Giroud)
France has had some of the best attackers in the world at their disposal, so it may surprise you that Olivier Giroud is the national team’s top scorer, netting 57 goals in 137 games.

19. Georgia (Shota Arveladze)
Former Ajax and Rangers star Shota Arveladze is Georgia’s record goalscorer, scoring 26 goals in 62 appearances. He played for Georgia from 1992 until 2007.

20. Germany (Miroslav Klose)
Miroslav Klose is Germany’s all-time top goalscorer, with 71 goals in 137 games, and holds the record for most goals scored at the FIFA World Cup, with 16 in four editions.

21. Gibraltar (Liam Walker)
Liam Walker is Gibraltar’s top scorer in history, with only eight goals in 85 appearances for the Gibraltar national team.

22. Greece (Nikolaos Anastopoulos)
Despite winning the European Championships in 2004, Greece has not had a flurry of goalscorers in its history. Nikolaos Anastopoulos tops the charts with 29 goals in 74 games, beating the likes of Angelos Charisteas

23. Hungary (Ferenc Puskas)
Ferenc Puskas was the star of Hungary’s ‘Golden Era’. He led his country to gold at the 1952 Olympics and the final of the 1954 World Cup. He scored 80 goals in 80 games.

24. Iceland (Gylfi Sigurdsson)
Former Swansea City star Gylfi Sigurdsson was integral in leading Iceland to the knockout rounds of Euro 2016 and the group stages of the 2018 World Cup. He is his nation’s top scorer with 26 goals in 83 games.

25. Israel (Eran Zahavi)
With 35 goals in 74 games for the Israeli national team, Eran Zahavi is the country’s top scorer. He is the current captain of Israel.

26. Italy (Luigi Riva)
With the national team’s almighty success, it may be a surprise that Luigi Riva’s 35 goals in 42 games is enough to be Italy’s record scorer. He won the 1968 European Championship.

27. Kazakhstan (Bakhtiyor Zaynutdinov)
Besiktas JK star Bakhtiyor Zaynutdinov is Kazakhstan’s record scorer, finishing 14 goals in 42 games for the national team. At 26, he has plenty of years to extend his record.

28. Kosovo (Vedat Muriqi)
Kosovo has only been a UEFA member since 2015, but Mallorca star Vedat Muriqi has raced ahead in all-time scoring charts, netting 28 in 58 games. He is 16 goals ahead of second place.

29. Latvia (Maris Verpakovskis)
Maris Verpakovskis is the only Latvian player to score at the end stage of a major tournament at Euro 2004. Verpakovskis scored 29 goals in 104 games for his country.

30. Liechtenstein (Mario Frick)
With 16 goals in 125 games for Liechtenstein, Mario Frick is the country’s record scorer. Mainly a striker, Frick could also play as a central defender.

31. Lithuania (Tomas Danilevičius)
Tomas Danilevicius scored 19 goals in 71 games for Lithuania. The former attacker made two appearances for Arsenal during the 2001/02 season.

32. Luxembourg (Gerson Rodrigues)
Gerson Rodrigues is Luxembourg’s record scorer, netting 23 goals in 68 games. He is also the first footballer from Luxembourg to play in the UEFA Champions League group stages.

33. Malta (Michael Mifsud)
Michael Mifsud is Malta’s record appearance maker (143) and the island nation’s record goalscorer with 42 goals.

34. Moldova (Ion Nicolaescu)
Sc Heerenveen striker Ion Nicolaescu is the Moldovan record goalscorer, recording 16 goals in 48 matches. He was the Moldovan Footballer of the Year in 2023 and 2024.

35. Montenegro (Stevan Jovetic)
Former Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic is Montenegro’s record scorer, scoring 36 goals in 83 games. The Premier League winner is regarded as the country’s greatest-ever player.

36. Netherlands (Robin van Persie)
Premier League legend Robin van Persie has scored some of the most iconic goals for the Netherlands on the biggest stage. He helped them reach the final of the 2010 World Cup, scoring 50 goals in 102 games.

37. North Macedonia (Goran Pandev)
Champions League winner Goran Pandev led his country to their first-ever major tournament at Euro 2020. He is the only Macedonian to score 100 goals in one of Europe’s top five leagues. He scored 38 in 122 in national colours.

38. Northern Ireland (David Healy)
In 95 games for Northern Ireland, David Healy became the team’s record scorer with 36 goals. He also shares the record for the highest-scoring tally during a Euro qualifying campaign with Robert Lewandowski, 13 goals.

39. Norway (Erling Haaland)
It’s no surprise that Erling Haaland is already Norway’s top goalscorer, netting 38 goals in a ridiculous 39 games. Jorgen Juve, in second place, was born in 1906.

40. Poland (Robert Lewandowski)
In 155 appearances, FC Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski is Poland’s record scorer, netting 83 goals. In October 2017, he scored a hat-trick against Armenia to become the country’s top scorer.

41. Portugal (Cristiano Ronaldo)
With 135 goals in 216 appearances for Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo is the most-capped player of any nation and is the record scorer in international football.

42. Republic of Ireland (Robbie Keane)
Robbie Keane is the greatest striker to play for Ireland, scoring 68 goals in 146 appearances. He is the only player in the history of football to score an international goal in 19 consecutive years.

43. Romania (Adrian Mutu/Gheorghe Hagi)
Adrian Mutu and Gheorghe Hagi share the record for the most goals scored for Romania, with 45 goals. Hagi is regarded as Romania’s greatest-ever player, but he played 124 games compared to Mutu’s 78. score an international goal in 19 consecutive years.

47. Serbia (Aleksandar Mitrović)
Al-Hilal striker and former Premier League star Aleksandar Mitrovic is Serbia’s record scorer, netting 59 goals in 98 appearances. He has 36 more goals than Dusan Tadic in second.

48. Slovakia (Marek Hamsik)
With 26 goals in 138 appearances, Marek Hamsik is Slovakia’s greatest servant. He tops the appearance and goal-scoring column. He captained the country to its first-ever World Cup and Euros.

49. Slovenia (Zlatko Zahovic)
Former Porto and Benfica star Zlatko Zahovic led Slovenia to their first Euros and World Cup in 2000 and 2002, respectively. He scored 35 goals in 81 appearances.

David Villa was integral to Spain’s domination in the late 2000s, winning the 2008 European Championships and the 2010 World Cup. He is the country’s top scorer, with 59 goals in 98 games.

54. Ukraine (Andriy Shevchenko)
With 48 goals in 111 games, football icon Andriy Shevchenko is Ukraine’s top goalscorer. He led Ukraine to the quarter-finals of the 2006 World Cup in Ukraine’s first-ever appearance.

55. Wales (Gareth Bale)
Real Madrid legend Gareth Bale is Wales’s greatest-ever player. He scored 40 goals in 111 games and led Wales to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 and qualification for the World Cup in 2022.
