The wife of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ronke Ogunwusi has tasked wives of traditional monarchs across the country to seek improvement of capacity for women so that they can contribute to national development.
Ogunwusi Ronke who is the ambassador of the Queen Moremi Ajasoro initiative made the call during an inaugural conference of all Oloris (queens) organised in conjunction with Janet Afolabi Foundation (OJAF), tagged, “The impact of Oloris in National Development” to mark the Black Women’s History Month.
About 120 Queens converged at the Palace of Ooni of Ife, in lle Ife, Osun State to discuss the impact of Royal Queens in national development.
In her welcome speech, Olori Ronke who is also the founder of Africa Fashion Week London and Nigeria Week and CEO of a Adire Textile hub said, “Today for the first time in history we are coming together to see how we can all work together on different projects to impact our communities. She invited the Queen to take advantage of the Adire training which is free and she has trained over 500 women and youths.

Ooni’s wife emphasized the need to ensure national development from the grassroots level as she revealed that it is necessary in order to tackle poverty through wealth creation and also assist women at their various localities in starting up, scaling up, and staying in their businesses.
She said: “This initiative will help tackle poverty and help as a wealth creation program for women who want to start up small businesses, women who want to scale up their businesses, and women who want to scale up their businesses.”
In her remarks, Olori Afolabi of Apomu kingdom urged her colleagues to live by example through the provision of sensitization programmes to natives of their communities stressing that nothing is too small.
“I empowered some set of women in my community with N20,000, and asked them payback in N5,000 monthly for 4 months in order to give opportunity to other sets and they did, this means you don’t need a huge amount to start impacting on people.”
Wife of Osun State Governor, Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, who was the Special Guest of Honour in her Goodwill message commended Olori Ronke and Olori Janet for organising the event.
She said she is committed to supporting and empowering women to develop Osun state.
