Shun Corruption, Indiscipline, Customs Boss Warns Officers

The Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service(NCS), Col. Hameed Ali has challenged officers of the service to shun corruption and work hard to achieve the goal of the service.
The CG said this on Wednesday while decorating six Deputy Comptroller-Generals(DCG) and eight Assistant Comptroller-Generals(ACG).
He also declared that indiscipline will not be tolerated in the service.
He further called for hard work and commitment, adding that his mission in the customs service is to make it the best not only in Nigeria but across Africa, adding also that he aims to clean all the bad impressions and ensure that all the mandate set by the government is met.
According to him; “Nigeria should expect fantastic service, great service, service that is forward looking, willing to deliver and service that will deliver.
” I think with the new crop of people, they are energized, they are young people who have gone through the system. They have known the system very well and I have no doubt in my mind that the sky is our limit.”
The NCS boss declared that officers’ welfare is Paramount in the scheme of things, adding that consultations are ongoing with the government to get increase in their take home in order to increase welfare in the area of remuneration, office and housing environment.
While expressing confidence in the new management, Ali noted that the decorated officers deserved it as it was not through lobby or compromise but purely on merit,he further expressed hopes that the upliftment will ginger the officers to do more to add to the service.
The new DCGs are; Warikoru Ayapayefa; Ugo Ayegba; Ukaigwe Chigozie; Umar Abubakar; Grace Adeyemo and Suleiman Idris.
While the new ACG’s are; Sanusi Umar, Headquarters; Aremu Olatunji, Commandant staff college; Chidi Augustine, Zonal Coordinator ‘D’; Azarema Abdulkadir, Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘C’; Dangaladima Aminu, Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘B’; Edike Bernard, Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘A’; Abbas M. And Adegoke Funsho.
