Chairman of Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area, Imo State, Chief Larry Chikwe, at the 2021 Children’s Day Party organized by his wife, Princess Vivian Chikwe, for the primary and secondary schools children at the LG Headquarters, Afor Oru, told the Children to focus on their education, imbibe good morals and shun all forms of social vices for a promising future.
The LG chairman said that the greatest desire of the Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, and the wife, Bar. Chioma Uzodinma, is to give the children quality education in a friendly and conducive learning environment. He urged them to keep praying for the governor, the wife, the state and Nigeria at large, for divine restoration of peace and security.
The LG boss underscored that nothing can be achieved in an atmosphere of chaos and crises, pointing out that the governor is working hard to ensure adequate security in the state for hitch-free viable educational system and socio-economic activities.
Chief Chikwe asserted that this year’s theme for the event, “Investing in the future means investing in our children was apt and has to be taken serious at all levels to avert a conflict turned and blinking society.
Earlier, the wife of the LGA Chairman, Princess Chikwe, decried the increasing rate of rape of the girl child not just by men and boys but also by fellow girls who practice lesbianism. She called on parents and teachers to monitor and guard their children, especially, the girl child.
She lauded the state governor and wife for giving the children the opportunity to celebrate the day despite the march past that could not hold and guaranteed the children of safety and protection.
Princess Chikwe expressed gratitude to teachers for building up the children, underscoring that without teachers, there is no nation while calling on parents not to abdicate their responsibilities to maids and housekeepers, but ensure they monitor their children against peer group influence and above all inculcate them with good family morals and values.
The LG boss’s wife reechoed the importance to respect the rights of children and report every child abuse and sexual molestation for prompt action.
In their separate remarks, the IMC Member, Hon. Chief Okey Ezem of Umunomo/Umuchieze, Chief Callistus Anyanwu (Okrikanwenkwo), Hon. Oliver Onuoha (Otulu/Aguneze) Hon. Marcus Ohanaja (Nnarambia) Hon. Festus Onuoha ( Oru/Lude) and Woman Leader, Mrs. Rachel Okafor said the party was memorable not only for the children but also for them.
They extolled the LG Chairman for celebrating the children, raising their hope of better future, and giving the children a sense of belonging.
Some of the pupils and students who prayed/spoke – Master Dominion Anosike of Secondary Technical School Obohia, Miss Ulonma Chisom of Nnn Ahiara Comprehensive Secondary School and Miss Uchechi Ezem of Ikenegbu Girls Secondary School, Owerri said they were overjoyed with the activities – Dancing, Spelling, Best Dressed Pupils/Students and Career Competition as well as presents from the chairman and wife prayed God to bring a permanent solution to the prevailing insecurity bedeviling the nation.
In a vote of thanks, the LGA Education Secretary, Lady Eunice Ekechukwu appreciated the LG Chairman and wife for making the day worthwhile and urged the teachers to redouble efforts in impacting the children with discipline and knowledge.
