The newly elected Southwest Zonal Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong confidence in the re-election of Biodun Oyebanji, describing him as a unifying force within the party and a model of progressive governance.

The assurance was given by the Zonal Chairman, Isaac Kekemeke, during his acceptance speech shortly after his emergence at the APC Southwest Zonal Congress held on Wednesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

Kekemeke highlighted Governor Oyebanji’s inclusive leadership style, noting that his administration’s visible developmental strides have strengthened party cohesion in Ekiti State and earned admiration across political divides.

“The Governor’s performance has redefined governance at the subnational level. His focus on infrastructure, public service delivery, and stakeholder engagement has restored public confidence in leadership, translating into growing grassroots support for the party,” he said.

The Southwest Zonal Chairman also called for massive support for APC’s governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, arguing that the Ekiti experience under Governor Oyebanji provides a replicable model of progressive governance.

“The results recorded in Ekiti are practical evidence of what disciplined and people-oriented leadership can achieve. We urge voters in Osun to align with APC’s vision to unlock similar opportunities for growth and stability,” Kekemeke added.

He further emphasized the zone’s role in ensuring political victories for the APC, particularly in upcoming elections. “By June, Governor Oyebanji must return, and by August, Oyebamiji must be victorious in Osun State, Insh Allah. Our duty as Southwest is to give overwhelming support to our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2027,” he declared.

Kekemeke reaffirmed that the APC’s ideology remains rooted in development, economic inclusion, and national cohesion, noting that Governor Oyebanji’s administration aligns fully with these principles.

Speaking at the event, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor and Southwest Coordinating Governor of the APC, described the election of the new zonal executives as free, fair, credible, and rancour-free. He highlighted that the party adhered strictly to reforms under the 2026 Electoral Act to ensure accountability and credibility in internal party processes.

Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the new zonal executives to adopt a forward-looking approach, stressing the importance of unity, strategic planning, and building a formidable structure capable of delivering victory for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

“The Southwest remains a critical stronghold for the APC and must continue to set the pace in political organization and governance,” he said.

The congress also saw the emergence of key officials, including Alfred Aluko as Zonal Secretary and Daramola Adesuyi as Zonal Legal Adviser. The event was attended by all APC Governors from the zone, Opeyemi Bamidele, and members of the National and State Assemblies from the region.

The gathering underscored the Southwest APC’s commitment to party unity, leadership continuity in Ekiti and Osun States, and the strategic objective of securing decisive support for President Tinubu in 2027.
