Nigeria secured a commanding place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday night with a resounding 4–0 victory over Mozambique, extending their perfect run at the tournament.

The Super Eagles delivered a dominant performance in Fez to complete a clean sweep of Group C, winning all four of their opening matches—an unprecedented feat in the country’s AFCON history.

The result further underlined Nigeria’s superiority over the Mambas, whom they outclassed from start to finish.

Ademola Lookman set the tone early in the encounter, opening the scoring with a well-taken goal that put Nigeria firmly in control.

The Atalanta forward then turned provider, supplying the assist for Victor Osimhen to double the Super Eagles’ advantage before halftime.

Nigeria maintained their attacking intensity after the break, with Osimhen striking again almost immediately. The Napoli striker completed his brace after once more benefiting from Lookman’s creativity, as the Eagles continued to overwhelm the Mozambican defence.

The rout was completed when Akor Adams fired home a powerful strike from inside the penalty area, sealing a comprehensive victory and capping an impressive team display.

With the group stage now behind them, Eric Chelle’s side will turn their attention to the quarter-finals, where they are set to face the winner of the clash between Burkina Faso and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as Nigeria’s quest for continental glory gathers momentum.
