Teenager arrested with double barrel gun

A teenager who was arrested with a double-barrel pistol and 10 live cartridges while he was on a motorcycle has told policemen that he was going to attack his friend who refused to share the sum of N800,000 which he made through internet fraud popularly known as ‘Yahoo Yahoo.’

The teenager, Mamus Obine, said to be 18 years old, was said to have been arrested by operatives attached to Eagle-net special squad of the Delta State Police Command while on routine stop-and-search duties along Ughelli/Warri road, the state police command disclosed in a statement.

It was gathered that the policemen flagged off a motorcycle with two men on it.  On sighting the policemen, Obine was said to have jumped from the motorcycle and ran into a nearby bush. He was given a chase and was eventually arrested.

According to the statement by the state police command through its Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, on the Facebook wall of the command, when the bag he was carrying was searched after his arrest, one locally-made double-barrel pistol and ten live cartridges were found in his bag.

The statement added that during his interrogation, he was said to have admitted being the owner of the bag where the pistol and the ammunition were found, saying he wanted to use it to attack his friend whose name he gave as Kingsley.

According to him, he decided to attack the said Kingsley because he refused to share from the sum of N800,000 Kingsley made after he defrauded his victim through internet fraud popularly known as ‘Yahoo Yahoo.’

He also confessed that he belonged to a three-man robbery gang while he gave the names of the other members of the gang as Austin and ThankGod (their surnames unknown).

According to the statement, more investigations are ongoing about his activities while a manhunt has been launched for the arrest of the fleeing members of his gang.
