Tinubu missing in action as APC leaders meet with Buhari

The national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has been missing in action since consultations between APC leaders, particularly, APC governors a, and President Muhammadu Buhari have been going on over the party’s national convention and election of members of the National Working Committee (NWC). APC governors after their meeting on Monday in Abuja, resolved to hold a meeting with President Buhari on Tuesday on the postponement of the party’s national election from February 26 to March 26.

Chairman of the APC Governors forum, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, had after the governors meeting at the Kebbi State Governors Lodge in Abuja, had while talking on the meeting with President Buhari on Tuesday, acknowledged that they are not the only stakeholders in the ruling APC, indicating the need doe wider consultations by party stakeholders on the controversies over the APC national convention that is being delayed.

While the governors have been in the vanguard of the consultations, other party leaders, essentially, the APC national leader, Tinubu, has been staying aloof from the meetings to resolve the lingering controversies over the national convention.

Meanwhile, Tinubu has been traversing the length and breadth of the country, consulting on his life presidential ambition in 2023.

In an earlier report, it was noted that Tinubu and the legacy party, ACN, which he led into the APC alliance, had been shut out of the arrangements for the election of the APC national chairmanship contest at the convention. Tinubu appeared to be more concerned about his presidential ambition than who becomes the APC national chairman, beside other members of the NWC.
