President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to Hajiya Umma, mother of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, describing her as a remarkable woman whose children and grandchildren have made meaningful contributions to national development.

Hajiya Umma passed away on Friday in Cairo, Egypt, after a brief illness.

In a condolence message to El-Rufai, the president expressed deep sympathy over the loss, noting that the passing of a mother is an especially painful experience. The message was conveyed in a statement issued by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.

“Nasir, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved mother, Hajiya Umma,” Tinubu said.

“As someone who has also lost a mother, I share your grief and understand the depth of your loss.”

The president acknowledged the profound emotional impact of losing a mother and prayed that cherished memories of her love and guidance would bring comfort to the bereaved family.

“I know no words can fully ease your sorrow, but I pray memories of her love, wisdom, and guidance bring comfort,” he stated.

Tinubu urged the family to find solace in the enduring legacy of values and principles she instilled in her children and grandchildren, noting that her influence would continue to resonate through their service and contributions.

He added that as believers, the family could draw strength from the conviction that she had fulfilled her purpose on earth and returned to her Creator.

“As firm believers in Allah, we are convinced she has played her part and returned to her Maker,” the president said.

Tinubu concluded by praying for the repose of her soul and for strength for the family during the mourning period.

“I join family, friends, and well-wishers in mourning with you. May Allah grant your dear mother Aljannah Firdaus,” he said.
