MFM: Maureen Badejo risks jail term, UK Court warns

The Queens Bench Division of UK High Court of Justice, November 1, 2021, alerted a London-based blogger, Maureen Badejo, of imminent jail term if she fails to obey an existing judgement of the court against her for defaming the founder of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, and his wife, Shade.

The Court raised the alert to her on November 1^st in an Order, titled: “Notice to the Defendant”.

A document from the court reveals that Mauren Badejo was given up to Nov 4, 2021, to obey the judgement or be found guilty of contempt of court and may be sent to prison.

It would be recalled that on November 22, a London High Court of Justice, Queen’s Bench Division, ordered Badejo to pay the sum of One Hundred Thousand pounds sterling (£100,000) to Dr. Daniel Olukoya, founder and General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) and his wife, Folashade.

The Court also ordered Badejo to publish a summary of the judgment across nine of her social media channels for a period of 10 consecutive days as a corrective measure and as a means of ensuring that her misguided and misinformed audience get to know about the Court’s decision.

The Court handed the orders in consideration in the defamation action filed by Dr. Olukoya and his wife through their Solicitor, Mrs. Shubha Nath and their Barristers – Jonathan Price Esq., against Maureen Badejo in London.

In awarding the judgment and damages, the Court said it recognized the intense, malicious and relentless campaign waged by Maureen against the Olukoyas with whom she had no previous acquaintance or even the opportunity of a chance meeting.

The Court also observed that the unjustified attack was widely publicised and had harmed the character, professional integrity and reputation of the Olukoyas yet Maureen had neither apologized nor shown any remorse for her actions.

In the new order seen by National Daily, the Hon Mrs. Justice Tripples said: “You should read it carefully. If you disobey the order at paragraph 2 below you may be found guilty of Contempt of Court and you may be sent to prison or fined or your assets may be seized.”

The paragraph 2 in reference, specifically states that: “The defendant shall by 10am on Thursday 4 November 2021 publish a summary of the judgment in the form annexed to this Order marked Annex 1 by: a. posting it to each of the social media accounts identified in sub-paragraphs 3(a) to (e) below and shall ensure that such summary be accessible to the followers of those accounts for a period of 10 days; and

“b. by posting on the social media account identified in sub-paragraph 3(f) below a link to each of her Facebook accounts identified at paragraphs 3(d) and (e), and shall ensure that those links are accessible to the followers of the social media account identified at paragraphs 3(f) for a period of 10 days.”
