A 17-year-old female student of the Osun State University, Ikire campus, Victory Ehiremen, and her boyfriend, Ayobami Ariyo, were on Wednesday paraded before journalists at the state police command headquarters, Osogbo, for allegedly obtaining N1.5m from a complainant they lured from Lagos to Osun State.
Presenting the suspects alongside others arrested in various parts of the state for crimes ranging from conspiracy to armed robbery, the state Commissioner of Police, Kehinde Longe, said Ehiremen met the complainant on social media a few days before the incident.
Longe said after days of chatting on social media, the complainant was invited to Ikire from Lagos by Ehiremen, who, during the visit, lured him to her boyfriend’s house where he met some people that attacked him and transferred N1.5m from his bank account.
“Immediately the case was reported, police detectives swung into action and arrested one Ariyo Ayobami from his hideout.
“Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the two other accomplices. Efforts are ongoing to arrest other culprits while the suspects will be charged to court after the completion of the investigation,” the police boss said.

But when speaking with suspect, Ehiremen said she did not know her boyfriend forcefully obtained money from the complainant, as she could not bear it when Ayobami and his friend started beating the complainant when they forced their way into the room she was with him.
She added that she met the complainant through WhatsApp and added that her boyfriend, who she claimed engaged in Internet fraud, gave her N40, 000 gift two days after the incident.
Others paraded by the police were Obinna Chibuzo, Igwe Chukwudi, Ogbona Destiny, Eze Nwaze, Olamilekan Samson, and Kola Akinolu, who were arrested for conspiracy and armed robbery along the Osu-Ile-Ife Highway in the state.
