What could be described as a national shame is playing out in  Abuja as the victorious Super Falcons have staged a protest at the National Assembly premises over their unpaid allowances.

The female football national team, the Super Falcons, won the 10th edition of the African Championship held in Cameroon recently.

National Daily learnt that since they won the tournament a couple of weeks ago, the Nigerian Football Federation has refused to pay their allowances

It was further learnt that the ladies decided to embark on protest to the National Assembly when they got wind of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the National Assembly today to present the estimates of the 2017 budget to lawmakers.

However, it was learnt that all the three gates leading to the NASS have been shut by security agents awaiting the President’s visit.

The ministry instead of paying their allowances, National Daily gathered that the victorious team members have been held up in a hotel in Abuja, many days after they returned to the country with the trophy.

The Super Falcons are said to be carrying placards with various inscription: ead, “We are your children, pity us”; “Let us respect women”; “female football deserves respect.”

This is the 8th time Nigerian Super Falcons would win the competition.

It would be recalled that the Minister of Sports, Barr Solomon Dalong was allegedly accused to saying there was no money to pay them as the ministry was not expecting them to have won the competition.
