One of the legal counsels to Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho has revealed that the activist may not likely return to Nigeria when he is released from Benin Republic where is currently being held.
Recall that Igboho and his wife, Ropo, were arrested on Monday, July 19, 2021, by the International Criminal Police Organisation at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, the Republic of Benin on their way to Germany.
Then in March 2022, he was said to have been released from prison but under the agreement he should not leave the medical centre or Cotonou for any reason.
Speaking on Wednesday, Olusegun Falola, one of the lawyers stated that his client may not soon return to Nigeria.

According to him, Igboho’s life is in danger in Nigeria, thus it would be risky for him to decide to return after he is free from the Benin Republic.
“The case will make revelations as to whose nation is powerful in Africa,” he said, “and while our government may not be affluent or have as many people as Nigeria, there is a written treaty that must be followed.
“Igboho cannot be allowed to return to Nigeria due to the damage that was done to his properties, and they are not only hunting for Sunday Igboho—they intend to kill him.
“It would be very risky to let him go back to Nigeria because they are trying to kill him. He is therefore being held in a secure location.
He further said that if Igboho is freed, he might travel to Germany to visit his family and children.
“This case has become a global one with many watching the developments, all Yorubas especially in Diaspora, monarchs, traditionalists, and others are keenly following the case,” Falola said.
