The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he has not enjoyed the same level of support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as that received by the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde.
Wike made the assertion on Monday during a media parley with selected journalists in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, where he spoke on national politics, governance and his relationship with key political actors.
According to the former Rivers State governor, President Tinubu approved substantial federal support for Makinde, contrary to public narratives suggesting that the Oyo State governor has been sidelined by the current administration.
“I have not gotten the kind of support Seyi Makinde got from President Tinubu,” Wike said.
He disclosed that Makinde had formally written to President Tinubu to request federal intervention, despite publicly criticising the President and claiming he was denied a ministerial slot.
“Makinde wrote to the President, the same man he’s talking about that didn’t give him ministerial slot,” Wike stated.
The FCT Minister criticised what he described as the tendency of some political actors to demand documentary evidence whenever such claims are made, insisting that the core issue is not about presenting proof but about acknowledging facts.
“What I don’t like about people is when they say, ‘show evidence.’ It’s not the issue of showing evidence,” he said.

Wike further alleged that President Tinubu approved a N50 billion grant for Oyo State following Makinde’s request, challenging the governor to deny benefiting from the intervention.
“Can Makinde look up and say he did not apply for a grant of N50 billion which the President approved for him?” Wike asked.
The remarks add to the ongoing political tensions between leading figures within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), particularly members of the G-5 group, and reflect broader debates over federal support, party loyalty and intergovernmental relations under the Tinubu administration.
Neither the Oyo State Government nor Governor Makinde has responded publicly to Wike’s claims as of the time of filing this report.
