2027 Elections: Amuwo Odofin APC non-indigenes calls for fair representation

A group-Concerned Non-Indigene of Amuwo Odofin has tasked the All Progressives Congress to ensure better consideration is accorded them in the polity of the Federal Constituency, owing to their population and spread.

In a statement signed by its convener Leonard Chukwudubem on Monday, the group said that given the fact that they make close to 90 percent of the eligible electorates in the area a good number of whom are card carrying members of APC, they ought to be carried along in the political office allotments.

“We make close to 90 percent of the population of the entire Amuwo Odofin federal constituency, many of us are card carrying members of APC but what brings cause for worry is the fact that there is no fair representation, it is clearly a case of the indigene takes all, if you check critically the political offices does not really reflect the population index that ought to be a factor of consideration.

Chukwudubem however, gave a trajectory of what seemingly led to past losses APC suffered in previous elections.

“What we are saying in the Concerned Non-Indigene of Amuwo Odofin is that,it is hightime our great party-APC and its leadership consider this obvious fact and make space for us, presently key positions are being strategically taken but none is given to us, while we are peace loving people, we beg our leaders to consider us, our party needs to be mindful of this fact that the root cause of the political distruptions suffered in times past is tied to the lack of consideration.

“It should not be a case of indigene takes all, we are making this plea ahead of the forthcoming general elections we should have a fair representation too, it beats our imagination that even our yoruba brothers and sisters who are non-indigenes of Amuwo Odofin but have played lead role in unifying the community are being sidelined too.

“We want to appeal passionately to political stakeholders within the APC fold in Amuwo Odofin to review the situation and make amend, we remain loyal to APC and for the love of progress of our community we make this humble request, that you should also consider the non-indigenes too.”
