This article will take a look at some Nigerian Celebrities, who have declared interest in contesting for a position in the federal House of Representatives in the past.
1. Banky W
Popular Nigerian Singer and Actor, Olubankole Wellington, is one of the celebrities who have ventured into Politics. In 2018, the Actor, under the platform of the Modern Democratic Party, MDP, declared his intention to run for the Lagos Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Reps. Banky W went on to contest the election but lost to the APC Candidate.
2. Kate Henshaw
Nollywood Veteran Actress, Kate Henshaw, is another Celebrity who has declared intention to run for this position in the past. The ever-young Actress, under the platform of the PDP, declared her intention to contest for Calabar Municipal/Odukpani Federal Constituency in 2014. The Actress was unable to achieve the dream as she lost the primary election.
3. Kanayo O. Kanayo
Famously known for playing the role of Money Ritualist in movies, the Imo born Actor contested for the position of House of Reps in 2011. Kanayo who lost the primary election, contested for Ahiazu/Ezinihite Mbaise Federal Constituency under the platform of the PDP.
4. Kenneth Okonkwo
Nollywood Veteran Actor and Politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, declared interest to run for the House of Reps in 2014. The Actor who is from Enugu state declared interest in representing the Nsukka/Igbo Eze south federal constituency under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
5. Bukky Wright
In 2014, Veteran Actress, Bukky Wright, declared her intention to run for the position and contested for it under Social Democratic Party, SDP. She contested for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.
