In a renewed offensive and sustained bombardment by the Nigerian Army, it has destroyed all Boko Haram terrorists remaining camps and enclaves around Alagarno and Sambisa forests.
As a result, troops of 81 Battalion and 251 Task Force Battalion patrol team, cleared Boko Haram camps located at Komala, Dole, Kumshi and Moadori around the fringes of Alagarno forest.
In the process, two Boko Haram terrorists were killed while two notorious terrorists identified as Mustapha Busuru (50) and Usman Abubakar (56) were captured at Dole village. Troops also brought down all Boko Haram terrorist flags hoisted in the village and destroyed them.
It was learnt that two Toyota pick-up vans, 40 motorcycles, Improvised Explosives Making Devices (IEDs), stockpile of foodstuffs and fuel dump were destroyed. The patrol team also recovered horses and donkeys used for transportation by the terrorists.
In response to a distress call of an attack by Boko Haram terrorists on Kuda village along Butuku road, troops of 143 Battalion swung into action, unfortunately the terrorists fled after setting the village on fire leading to the death of an elderly woman.

The escaped insurgents regrouped and attempted to cross through Magar bridge but they were pre-empted by elements of the Battalion who killed two terrorists and wounded several others. Three soldiers and four locals sustained injuries, while the troops recovered one Toyota Buffalo vehicle mounted with an Anti-Aircraft Gun with registration number 081375, one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) with registration number 132042, a loaded G3 rifle magazine and 30 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunitions link.
According to the Army spokesperson, Col Sani Usman, troops of Nigerian Army in Operation LAFIYA DOLE carried out raids, patrols, cordon and search operations in a bid to clear remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in their respective areas of operations.
He said one of the patrol teams of 254 Task Force Battalion carried out clearance operation at Kubwa village, Borno State leading to the arrest of two suspected Boko Haram terrorists hiding in the community.
He added, “Another patrol team of the same unit, carried out clearance operation at Yakshari village, off Wajiroko along Ajigin-Talala road and proceeded to Korode. Some suspected Boko Haram elements on sighting the troops ran and abandoned six motorcycles and beans looted from the inhabitants of the area.
“The same team also recovered 21 motorcycles and Boko Haram terrorist flag at Korode abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. Similarly, a civilian vehicle encountered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the area which badly affected it. The troops also discovered another IED at Mauvi village which was safely detonated.

“In their efforts, troops of 7 Division Garrison, 112 Battalion, Army Headquarters Support Group and elements of Armed Forces Special Forces conducted a joint fighting patrol to suspected Boko Haram terrorists enclave in Gajibo, Maula, Gamai, Gamare, Maiwa, Warsale, Tangli, Tushi, Sowa, Hasanari, Changuwa, Malamaja and Marya towns in Mafa and Dikwa Local Governments Areas.
“In the encounter, five Boko Haram terrorists were killed, an AK-47 rifle, 10 motorcycles and one logistic truck belonging to the terrorists were recovered. The troops also rescued 350 people held hostages by the terrorists. Among those rescued were five girls abducted from Cameroon.
“As part of morale booster, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Brigadier General VO Ezugwu was said to have visited 26 Task force Brigade and commended troops of 121 Task Force Battalion for the successful joint clearance operations at Kirawa and Ngoshe with Cameroonian forces”.
