In a rare blend of academic nostalgia and visionary engagement, the Vice-Chancellor of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University Makurdi (JOSTUM), Professor Isaac Itodo, earlier today received in audience the Vice-Chancellor of the newly established Benue State University of Agriculture, Science and Technology (BSUAST), Ihugh, Professor Qrisstuberg Amua, on a formal courtesy visit.

The visit was deeply symbolic; not only in the academic brotherhood it exemplified but in the professional heritage it celebrated. Prof. Qrisstuberg Amua, a distinguished product of JOSTUM and former staff of the University, now pioneering a sister institution, was warmly received alongside the BSUAST Bursar, also a former JOSTUM staff, in the company of two other members of the BSUAST Management namely the Registrar and the University Librarian.

In his remarks, Prof. Amua expressed profound appreciation to the  leadership for releasing two of its esteemed members of staff to take up foundational appointments at BSUAST.

He described the gesture as a significant endorsement of JOSTUM’s institutional quality and a positive testament to the enduring value it offers to the Nigerian university system.

“The fact that JOSTUM has produced two of the principal officers now piloting the affairs of BSUAST Ihugh is not only historic; it is deeply reassuring. It affirms that the seeds sown in JOSTUM are bearing transformative fruit across Benue State and Nigeria, for the entire African continent,” Prof. Amua stated.

He noted that the emergence of the new university is a bold statement by the Benue State Government toward expanding access to specialised higher education, particularly in agriculture, science, and technology.

Both Vice-Chancellors explored critical pathways for inter-institutional collaboration in the areas of research, faculty development, student exchange, and technical partnership.

The discussions emphasised the mutual value to be derived from a dynamic and sustained relationship between JOSTUM and BSUAST, particularly as BSUAST continues to build its operational and academic architecture.

The meeting concluded with shared commitments to deepen cooperation and institutional solidarity; anchored on academic excellence, innovation, and the collective advancement of Benue’s educational and developmental agenda.
