Rotimi Amaechi resigns from APC, Cites party’s ‘Failure, Pain and Anguish’
I have therefore, taken a decision to join forces with well meaning compatriots to start a fresh journey for the liberation of Nigeria
Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, a former Governor of Rivers State and immediate past Minister of Transportation, has formally announced his resignation from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a letter dated “01/07/2025” and addressed to the Ward Chairman of the APC in Ward 8, Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi stated his decision was effective immediately.

Rotimi Amaechi explicitly cited a deep disillusionment with the party, stating that his decision “stems from my avowed commitment to joining forces with other patriotic Nigerians to rescue our dear nation from the pangs of failure, pain and anguish which the All Progressives Congress now pellucidly symbolizes”.
The former governor elaborated on his conviction, noting that “After a wide range of consultation, I am convinced that this is the appropriate moment to call it quits as the party has derailed from the lofty ideals that birthed its formation and so, can no longer inspire hopes in Nigeria for a greater future”.
