Troops of the Sector 2 Joint Task Force North-West, operating under the code name Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully apprehended a 25-year-old female suspect, Shamsiyya Ahadu, believed to be a key ammunition courier for notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.

Ahadu was arrested on December 28 in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area, Zamfara State, alongside her accomplice, Ahmed Husaini, a motorcyclist.

Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Media Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma, disclosed the details of the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday from Gusau, Zamfara State.

Abdullahi confirmed that Ahadu was found in possession of 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines, which she admitted were destined for Turji’s camp.

The arrest followed a tip-off regarding the movement of terrorist logistics along the road between Kware and Badarawa in Zamfara State.

Responding swiftly to the intelligence, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma set up a roadblock, leading to the successful capture of the suspects.

Abdullahi further emphasized the military’s determination to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent the illegal transportation of arms within the region. “Both suspects are currently undergoing investigation by the appropriate authorities,” he said.

The military spokesperson also reiterated the importance of public cooperation in combating terrorism, urging citizens to continue providing reliable information to assist in the arrest of other wanted terrorists and their collaborators.

The arrest of Ahadu is seen as a significant blow to the operations of bandit groups in the region, particularly those associated with the infamous Bello Turji, whose criminal activities have plagued parts of the North-West for years.

The military’s proactive actions reflect a continued commitment to securing the region and cutting off the flow of weapons to armed criminal groups.
