The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Farouk Yahaya has assured that his operational visit to the units and formation of the Nigerian Army Commands will boost the confidence of troops to perform better.
The Army Chief said that the Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), and the 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army is a formation that will improve on the incessant crisis that has bedeviled Plateau State.
Yahaya stated this Wednesday, while answering questions from journalists at the 3rd Division headquarters of the Nigerian Army barracks in Jos.
According to him: “I am here on an operational visit to units and formation. It is a routine for the COAS after assuming office to go round and interact with troops to see things for himself.
“I have asked troops to improve on their performance and I am sure my visit will boost their moral. The Operation Safe Haven and the 3rd Division Army will certainly provide the needed solution to the lingering crisis in Plateau: One of my visions for the Nigerian Army is to return soldiers to the path of professionalism”, he said.
However, one of the high points of the visit was a donation of a brand new Toyota Hilux to the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM), of the 3 division Army.
Presenting the Hilux to the RSM, Yahaya said: “I have special regards for the RSMs of the Nigerian Army, down to Senior Non-Commission Officers (SNCOs) and NCOs, as well as average soldiers”.
Our correspondent reports that the Army Chief had earlier presented a paper at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), as well as paid a courtesy call on the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong and the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Royal Majesty, Da Jacob Gyang Buba.
