The Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Farouk Yahaya has assured the Plateau State Government that the Army through the Special Military Task Force (STF), will continue to support the State in it’s bid to end the lingering insecurity that has bedeviled the State.

The Army Chief said the Taskforce will continue to employ the non-kinetic measures in tackling the crisis aimed at ensuring rules of engagement.

Yahaya stated this at a courtesy call paid on the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, at the Government House in Jos on Wednesday.

He said the Army will not relent in it’s efforts to ensuring peace and stability until everyone is free to go about their normal day to day activities.

The Army boss also lauded Lalong for the motorcycle he donated to the Taskforce for easy access to the hinterlands where bandits take refuge to commit heinous crimes.

Responding, Governor Lalong thanked the Army Chief for his timely response during the recent crisis that engulfed the State, saying that he will continue to use his position as the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum to drum support for the Army to be well equipped in fighting insurgency.

“We have confidence in the Army. I know that the crisis will not end suddenly, but we shall continue to work with you until lasting peace is achieved”, Lalong said.
