Buhari condemns destruction of residence of Obiozor, Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo President, police stations in Imo

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed strong condemnation of the destruction of the residence of the President General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Professor George Obiozor, including the attacks  and burning of police stations by armed men in Imo State.

The president in a statement by the Senior Special Assistant on media and Publicity, Garba Shehu,  lamented that it is “deeply distressing” the destruction of buildings and assets of the Police in Imo State and the home of the President-General of the Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Professor George Obiozor, describing the Ohanaeze leader  as ‘a leading voice of moderation in the affairs of the country’.

President Buhari promised Nigerians that the government will restore normalcy in the southeast. He enjoined the people of Imo State, and residence of the southeast to maintain peace, disclosing that the police and other agencies are working to ensure that normalcy is restored soon.

Buhari consoled the police authorities over the officers that died in the attacks; and Professor Obiozor, who he encouraged to maintain his commitment to the peace and oneness of the federation against these odds.

Gunmen had struck two times in Imo State at the weakened, burning two police stations on target.
