FG approves NYSC mobilisation for full-time HND graduates

The Federal Government has officially approved the mobilisation of full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made this announcement in a statement released in Abuja on Thursday by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.

According to Alausa, following discussions with the NYSC Director-General, only those who completed their HND through full-time study are eligible for mobilisation. He described this as a significant breakthrough, addressing the long-standing exclusion of HND graduates from the NYSC scheme.

The move, he added, reflects the government’s commitment to fairness and inclusivity in the education sector.

However, he clarified that HND graduates who completed their programmes through part-time study remain ineligible for mobilisation.

To ensure a smooth process, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has been tasked with compiling data on eligible graduates. Additionally, all Polytechnic Rectors have been directed to upload relevant graduate information to a newly created admission portal.

Alausa reiterated that only full-time HND graduates can participate in the NYSC program there are no exceptions for those who completed their studies part-time
