Finally, China scraps mandatory Covid quarantine

Residents in China are filled with joy as Beijing on Tuesday said it would scrap mandatory Covid quarantine for overseas arrivals.

This development ended an almost three-year self-imposed isolation that have kept the country largely closed off to the world since March 2020.

This has caused a rise in online searches for flights.

According to AFP, China, on Monday, said that from January 8 inbound travellers would no longer need to quarantine, as it further unwinds hardline virus controls that had torpedoed the economy and sparked nationwide protests.
