Manchester United can finally fulfill its sales objective after co-owner Avram Glazer met to hold talks with potential buyers of the club in Qatar this week.

National Daily had reported that the American family announced in November that they are seeking ‘strategeic’ investment in the club, which could range from a partial to a full sale.

Meanwhile, Avram was invited to watch France’s World Cup semi-final win against Morocco and invitations are typically only extended by FIFA, corporate sponsors or from the Qatari state.

And National Daily learnt from the claim by the Athletic that the American confirmed to them after the match that the process of selling the club was ‘proceeding’.

‘It’s not necessarily a sale, it’s a process and we’re going forward with the process, so we’ll see what happens,’ said Glazer.

‘That’s the update, it’s the process and the process is proceeding.’

But the Athletic say Glazer’s visit to the Middle East was more than just to view a match in Doha.

It’s claimed Avram met with potential investors from both Qatar and Saudi Arabia, with a view to purchasing shares in Manchester United.

It’s unclear how progessed the talks were but it’s clear that Avram is taking a hands-on approach to drumming up interest in the club.

That’s despite the fact that United have hired The Raine Group, who oversaw the sale of Chelsea earlier this year, to oversee the process.

The Americans are seeking between £6bn-£7bn for a full sale and hope to finish the process by late March 2023.
