The kidneys are two tiny organs that are found beneath the ribs on either side of the spine. They are crucial in the following ways:

1. Removing excess waste.

2. Electrolyte balance.

3. Hormone production.

A well-balanced diet and adequate water intake are usually enough to maintain your kidneys healthy in the absence of disease.

Certain foods and supplements, on the other hand, can assist in the maintenance of healthy kidneys.

Everything starts with a glass of water in the morning and ends with a healthy diet. Here are four meals that will help your kidneys stay clean and healthy.

1. Grapes.

Resveratrol is a beneficial plant component found in grapes, peanuts, and some berries.

Researchers discovered that resveratrol therapy reduced renal inflammation in rats with polycystic kidney disease in one animal research. A handful of red grapes is a delicious afternoon snack, and they’re even better when frozen.

2. Fruit juices.

Citric acid, or citrate, is found in lemon, orange, and melon juice.

Citrate prevents the production of kidney stones by binding to calcium in the urine. This slows the formation of calcium crystals in the kidneys, which can contribute to kidney stones.

Additionally, consuming a cup of fresh juice every day can help you meet your daily fluid requirements.

3. Vitamin B6-rich foods

Many metabolic reactions require vitamin B6 as a cofactor. B6 is needed for the metabolism of glyoxylate, which can turn into oxalate instead of glycine if B6 levels are low.

As previously stated, too much oxalate can cause kidney stones.

Add a daily B-complex vitamin containing at least 50 milligrams of B6 to your diet.

Adults should not take more than 100 mg of vitamin B6 per day unless it is part of a medical therapy under the supervision of a healthcare expert, according to the Food and Nutrition Board (FNB).

4. Water.

The adult human body is nearly 60% water, thus staying hydrated is crucial. Water is required for the proper functioning of every organ, from the brain to the liver.

The kidneys, being the body’s filtration system, need water to secrete urine. Urine is the body’s major waste output for removing undesired or superfluous substances.

Urine volume is low when water consumption is low. Kidney dysfunction, such as the formation of kidney stones, can be caused by poor urine flow.

Drinking enough water allows the kidneys to adequately clean out any excess waste products. During a renal cleanse, this is very necessary.
