As the 2023 general elections draws closer, there have been intensified conversations by major political parties, political stalwarts, critical individuals, opinion moulders and concerned citizens of the country. The conversations look at the chances of each political party and prominent ambitious politicians, in the course of adding values to the 2023 general elections in the country.

However, the Governorship election in Ekiti State is, considerably, one of the polls that could be used to assess what the political landscape may hold for each party and some politicians, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

However, it could be recalled that that the case in Ekiti State, could be related to the political situation in the neighbouring Kwara State where the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) amazingly defeated candidates being backed by the separate leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the two States, at the last Governorship elections that were held respectively, in the two States.

Remarkably, while Governor Kayode Fayemi defeated the candidate of the PDP that was backed by the former Governor of the State, Peter Ayodele Fayose in 2018, Governor Abdulrahmon Abdulrasak also defeated the Bukola Saraki backed candidate of PDP in Kwara State in the 2019 Governorship election in the state.

Unfortunately, the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led APC in Ekiti and Abdulrahmon Abdulrasak-led APC in Kwara State have, separately, been enmeshed in strict political conflicts over the past few years. The two Governors were in conflict with faction of the party whose leaders could be considered to be core loyalists of the former Lagos State Governor and a National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Remarkably, Lai Muhammed-led faction in Kwara State and Opeyemi Bamidele-led group in Ekiti State have been engaging the APC chapters of their states, over the past few years.

Mostly, looking at how the Kwara State chapter of the ruling party, APC, has been enmeshed in political rift, the Bukola Saraki-led opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state may have sighted the endroad for the ruling party.

However, the recent political resolution within members of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ekiti State may have severely disgruntled the political camp of Bukola Saraki-led opposition party in Kwara State, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Sincerely, if Opeyemi Bamidele-led group in Ekiti State could resolve their political differences, amicably, with the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led members of the ruling party in Ekiti State, the Bukola Saraki-led opposition PDP in Kwara State may not have any political gain to earn from the conflict between Governor Abdulrahmon Abdulrasak and the Minister of Communications and Culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed in Kwara State as the duo may also resolve their dispute, amiably.

Considerably, the Bukola Saraki-led opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have, politically, been left in a state of confusion as to ascertain how the future may be brighter for Kwara State chapter of APC, if they should embrace peace just as their Ekiti State counterparts have done.
