The Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, has approved the promotion of 558 teachers in police primary and secondary schools across the country.
The Director, Directorate of Police Education, DCP Kabiru Ibrahim, who disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Abuja, explained that the teachers would soon receive their letters of promotion adding that the promotion takes immediate effect. It added that it would address the complaints among the teaching staff and also to motivate them to perform better.
According to him, the IG was interested in making police schools one of the best in the country hence the increasing investment in academic facilities and the teaching staff to ensure a high quality of students.
He said: “It is my pleasure to inform you that the IG has approved the upgrading and promotion of 558 teachers in all police primary and secondary schools nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission, (PSC), has approved the elevation of 986 senior Police officers including one Commissioner of Police to Assistant Inspector General, five Deputy Commissioner of Police to Commissioner of Police, 16 Assistant Commissioner of Police to Deputy Commissioner of Police, 21 Chief Superintendent of Police to ACP, three SPs to CSP, nine DSPs to SP and 931 ASPs to DSP.
In a statement, it disclosed that Mr Emmanuel Ibe has been appointed as Acting Secretary of the commission. “CP Shuaiba Gambo is promoted to the next substantive rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police while DCPs Jonah Jackson Mava, Olusola Babajide David, Titus Sumba Lamorde, Chika Abubakar Maidama and Abdullahi Chafe Ibrahim were elevated to the next rank of Commissioner of Police.
“The commission also approved the elevation of 16 Assistant Commissioners to Deputy Commissioners, 21 Chief Superintendents to Assistant Commissioners and three Superintendents to Chief Superintendents. It also approved the promotion of nine Deputy Superintendents to Superintendents and 931 Assistant Superintendents to Deputy Superintendents.”
“Two acting DCPs, four acting ACPs and one acting CSP were also confirmed. All the promotions take effect from December 16, 2015.
