In a sweeping enforcement operation on Thursday, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) sealed off several establishments in the Alimosho area of Lagos for persistent noise pollution and other environmental infractions.
The crackdown, which covered key communities such as Egbeda, Igando, Gowon Estate, and Shasha, marked a renewed effort by the agency to curb rising environmental nuisances and enforce compliance with state laws.
The targeted establishments included a wide range of facilities—hotels, religious centers, lounges, and even a bakery—found to be in breach of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Law of 2017.
Among the sealed premises were Hellious Lounge Bar, Hope of Glory International Redemption Church, Okla Royal Hotel & Masara Entertainment, Olorunisola Hotel, Aloma Hotel & Suites, Let’s Go There Hotel & Lounge, a local bakery, Demeg Hotel, De Emmy Hotel & Suites, Goodtime Palace, and the Alhaja Fausatu Bankole Mosque.

Speaking during the operation, the General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, underscored the agency’s zero-tolerance policy on environmental violations, stressing the need to maintain a balance between economic activities and environmental sustainability.
“Noise pollution and related offences harm public health and disrupt community peace. Our actions today reinforce our commitment to safeguarding the environment and promoting a healthier Lagos that we can all be proud of,” Dr. Ajayi said.
He emphasized that the enforcement was not only necessary to restore order but also crucial in protecting the health and well-being of residents across affected neighborhoods.
Dr. Ajayi also issued a stern warning to all business operators and facility managers across Lagos, stating that LASEPA would continue to wield its regulatory powers against any establishment that fails to comply with environmental regulations.
“This operation is a clear message to all: no one is above the law. We are fully committed to ensuring environmental sanity across Lagos State,” he concluded.
LASEPA’s action has drawn public attention to the ongoing challenges of urban noise and environmental degradation in Lagos, with many residents calling for sustained enforcement and stricter penalties for violators.
