The Special Adviser to the President on Social Media, Miss Lauretta Onochie came out to react to a video of a young man who graduated from University but sells bean cakes, popularly known as ‘Akara’ for a living.
In the video, which is an ARISE TV interview, a young man identified as Ayobami Ogunboroti could be seen explaining why and how he decided to go into selling akara on the streets of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A graduate of political science, Ayobami said he was forced to go into the business after the Covid-19 lockdown affected his work as a beautician. Quite interestingly, the young man disclosed that he does not intend to look for a federal job because he makes more money frying Akara compared to what most civil servants make in an entire month.
Reacting to the video on her Facebook page, Lauretta Onochie praised Ayobami’s enterprising spirit while lashing out at those criticizing the Buhari regime over the lack of employment among Nigerian youths.
In her post, Onochie stated that there are millions of other enterprising youths like Ayobami but because they do not work in banks or government offices, the opposition refers to them as ‘unemployed’.
Going further, the presidential aide asserted that the youths who help their corrupt bosses ferry cash out of the country are the same ones who go on social media to spread false narratives against the Buhari regime.
In concluding her post, Onochie stated that in other countries across the world, special emphasis is often placed on skills and not university degrees, adding that Ayobami Ogunboroti is a perfect example of enterprising Nigerian youth.
