The Arewa Youth Assembly, AYA, has slammed Sen. Yerima Bakura, the former Governor of Zamfara State over his advise to President Bola Tinubu that the federal government should negotiate with terrorists and bandits terrorizing the country.
According to a statement issued by the Speaker of the group, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, while they recognized the complexity of the security challenges facing the Northern region, they believed that negotiating with bandits is not a viable long-term solution.
“Our group strongly disagrees with Mr. Bakura’s position and feels compelled to express our concerns.”

“Banditry and other forms of criminality pose a significant threat to the peace and stability of our country. Therefore, we urge the relevant authorities, including the federal government, to prioritize the use of all necessary means to address this menace.
“We wish to equally urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Use Brute Force to decimate terrorist elements and Restore peace in the region.
“In light of the escalating security situation in our region, the Arewa Youth Assembly called on President Tinubu to take decisive action in dealing with the terrorist, believing that the use of brute force, within legal and ethical boundaries, may be necessary to decimate these renegades and restore peace in the country,” the group said.
The group noted the complexities and challenges associated with using force but firmly believed that the safety and security of their people must be the paramount consideration and implored Tinubu to employ all available resources, including the armed forces, to eradicate the threat posed by terrorists in the region.
