The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has congratulated Adegoke Fadare on his successful election as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Clayton Park West constituency in Nova Scotia, Canada.

In a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, NiDCOM’s Director of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols, the Commission’s chairperson, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, extended her heartfelt congratulations to Fadare, describing his victory as a “win for all Nigerians in the diaspora and, by extension, Africans.”

Dabiri-Erewa commended Fadare for his “true sportsmanship” throughout the electoral process and praised his election success as a testament to the confidence his constituents have in his ability to address their needs.

She expressed hope that Fadare would honor the trust placed in him by his supporters and use his expertise to drive the socio-economic development of his community.

“The election of Adegoke Fadare highlights the growing political influence and active participation of Nigerians in the diaspora,” Dabiri-Erewa said.

“We are confident that he will work diligently for the betterment of Clayton Park West, and we wish him a successful tenure.”

Fadare, a Nigerian cybersecurity expert, project manager, and politician based in Canada, won the seat during the 2024 Nova Scotia General Election, held in November.

He ran as a member of the Progressive Conservative (PC) party, securing 2,096 votes, or 35.4% of the total 5,913 votes cast.

His closest competitor, Wendy Hood-Morris of the Nova Scotia New Democratic Party (NDP), garnered 2,010 votes (34%), while Elizabeth Eustaquio-Domondon of the Liberal Party (LIB) placed third with 1,807 votes (30.6%).

Fadare’s election marks a significant achievement for the Nigerian community in Canada, and his win is seen as an inspiration for further political engagement among Africans abroad.
