Okitipupa LGA chairman vows to recover encroached Government properties

The Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government Area (LGA) in Ondo State, Mr. Andrew Ogunsakin, has pledged to recover all government properties encroached upon within the locality.

Ogunsakin made this commitment on Wednesday during an inspection of government assets in Oke Oyinbo, the Government Reserved Area, and Ayeka.

He stated that the recovery process would begin once the inspection tour is completed.

“Any reclaimed assets will be put to judicious use for the benefit of community development,” he emphasized.

The inspection covered various government properties, including land, buildings, and farmlands.

Ogunsakin noted that the purpose of the inspection was to evaluate the condition of these properties, identify necessary renovations, and reinforce documentation to prevent future misuse.

The chairman expressed concern over the increasing cases of encroachment and illegal occupation of public properties.

He stressed that it was crucial for the government to ensure that public resources are managed responsibly and not abandoned.

“As a government, we must ensure that public resources are not mismanaged or abandoned.

This exercise will allow us to take appropriate steps to recover and optimize these assets,” Ogunsakin stated.

He also linked the initiative to ongoing reforms aimed at improving governance efficiency, advancing infrastructural development, and ensuring that government investments benefit the people of Okitipupa LGA.

The chairman reaffirmed the council’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the responsible management of government resources.

He urged the community and stakeholders to support efforts to protect public assets, warning that any illegal occupation or encroachment would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The Vice Chairman, Mr. Orimisan Ogunyemi, and other senior LGA officials joined Ogunsakin during the inspection tour.
