Senator Adams Oshiomhole at a national integration conference organised by the Mathew Kukah Centre, slammed Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State over his interference with the arrest of former Governor Yahaya Bello in Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for corruption allegations.
Oshiomhole, representing Edo North in the 10th Senate, also scolded former governor Bello for training his children in a foreign school and denying the children of the poor from getting education.
Oshiomhole had declared in part: “I also think we should be bold enough to mention the governor who used his immunity to cover up the former governor who has lost immunity in a criminal offense.
“ A Governor who is training his children in a foreign school and denied poor children of getting education.
“We must not make laws we do not have the political will to enforce.
“Never should a child born in this country be denied access to school”.
Oshiomhole asserted that Governor Ododo’s “rescue” of former Governor Bello; as well as the refusal of the former governor to show up in court, constituted breach of the law.
Oshiomhole was cited to have further declared: “If you are afraid, given the fact that you are very vocal, you are independent, you cannot be dismissed, you cannot be promoted or demoted… if you are afraid to mention the name of a former governor who breached the law and a sitting governor who used his immunity to cover a governor that lost immunity, where will the courage come from?”
