Authorities in Ogun State have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of Inspector Haruna Mohammed, whose lifeless body was discovered in a hotel room under suspicious circumstances.
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed that the officer checked into Super G Royal Hotel, located at 11 Anthony Uzum Estate, Oyeyemi Akute, in the early hours of Saturday, February 15, 2025, alongside an unidentified woman who is now missing.
According to a police situation report, the hotel manager, Deborah Adejobi, discovered Room 107 unlocked at about 8:52 am and went inside, only to find Inspector Mohammed’s lifeless body on the bed.
The hotel owner, Abiodun Olagunju, immediately alerted the police, who responded to the scene and initiated an investigation into the officer’s sudden and unnatural death.
Investigators have noted that the missing woman was last seen at around 6:00 am when she visited the reception to request a bottle of table water.

Her sudden disappearance has raised questions about her possible involvement in the officer’s death.
Police sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, suggested that authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and interrogating hotel staff to trace the woman’s whereabouts.
The Ogun State Police Command has classified Mohammed’s death as unnatural but has not disclosed any possible causes pending an autopsy.
His body has been removed from the hotel and deposited at Life Channel Mortuary in Olambe for further examination.
A senior police officer, speaking to journalists, stated: “We are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Inspector Mohammed’s death. The sudden disappearance of the woman raises suspicions, and we are making efforts to track her down. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.”
Security analysts and forensic experts have weighed in on the case, suggesting two possible scenarios:

The woman’s abrupt disappearance suggests that she may have played a role in the officer’s sudden death, possibly by poisoning or another method.
Medical Emergency – There is also the possibility that Mohammed died of natural causes, and the woman, fearing suspicion, fled the scene.
Dr. Kunle Adeyemi, a forensic expert, explained: “If poisoning or drug use was involved, toxicology tests will confirm it. However, sudden cardiac arrest or underlying health issues cannot be ruled out either.”
The police have urged members of the public with any information about the missing woman to come forward, emphasizing that she is a person of interest in the ongoing investigation.
The Ogun State Police Command has also assured that a comprehensive forensic examination will be conducted to determine the actual cause of death.
As detectives continue their search for the missing woman, authorities are appealing for patience while forensic analysis is carried out.
