Presidency 2023: One Million Women March for Yahaya Bello holds in Umuahia

The campaign and mobilization activities for the 2023 presidential aspiration of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State spread to the sourest where women engaged One Million Match for Yahaya Bello. Women in their hundreds of thousands from various parts of Nigeria stormed Umuahia, Abia State, on a solidarity walk identified as “One Million Women March for Yahaya Bello 2”, to show their support for the presidential aspiration of Governor Yahaya Bello. They insisted on mobilising their population to support the Kogi governor in the race to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Over 700 women groups from the six geo-political zones, including several key sectors, Non-Governmental Organisations, Civil Society Organisations, religious, professional bodies, women in media, politics, Nollywood, market women, top women entrepreneurs, etc., under the aegis of Women United for Yahaya Bello (WUYABEL), participated in the road walk.

The women asserted that Governor Bello is the only Governor in Nigeria that had given women the right voice in governance. They declared that the Kogi governor has demonstrated enough capacity in running governance, and therefore, suitable for president.

The women walked through the streets of Umuahia, singing solidarity songs, displaying placards with various inscriptions, denoting: “If Yahaya Bello can do it in Kogi, he can do it for Nigeria”; “Yahaya Bello is our choice”; “Yahaya Bello, our hero”; etc.

The women at a rally at the Abia Hotel at the end of the street walk,  assured Bello  of their support, saying they will mobilise widely for his victory in the 2023 presidential elections.

Vice President of Nigerian Women Arise for Nigeria (NIWAFON), South-East, Mrs. Josephine Orauno, representing the Global President, Dr. Hannatu Adeeko, emphasized that women are now more united than ever to ensure they support that Governor who had shown the real worth of women in governance.

According to Josephine Orauno, “That Governor is Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello. “This is the reason we are gathered here to let him know that he has the strong support of South East women, and indeed, the women of Nigeria, to go for the higher assignment of presidency. I was not actively involved in election processes before, but this time, we will go all out for Yahaya Bello.

“I’ve heard people saying some of these things are stage-managed. They should wait and see if it is organic or not.

“With what we would do for Yahaya Bello, I mean the Nigerian women, other Governors and leaders will no longer joke with the issue of giving women what they deserve.”

A Nollywood actress, Ogechi Obilonu, leading Southeast Nollywood female actresses, like Phil Daniels, Amaka Offor, and Faith Ononiwu, etc., at the rally, acknowledged that she heard a lot about Governor Bello, soliciting wider support from women for the Kogi governor.

Ogechi Obilonu stated, “Anyone who supports us, we will support. His giant strides in Kogi is because he has intelligent women in the right places. He can repeat the same at the national level.”

Zonal Woman Leader, Southeast, of the All Progressives Congress, Lolo Josephine Chukwu, also called on Nigerian women to support Governor Bello.

Governor Bello had earlier pulled support from youths in Bauchi State who held similar rallies on the streets of Bauchi.
