The lawmaker representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District, Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi, has intensified his verbal attacks on suspended Kogi senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, calling for stringent actions against her in the National Assembly.
Nwaebonyi, a staunch ally of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has been one of the most vocal figures defending Akpabio following Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations of sexual harassment.
In an interview with News Central TV on Wednesday night, the Ebonyi senator launched fresh attacks on Akpoti-Uduaghan, questioning her credibility and personal life in a manner critics describe as character assassination.
During the interview, Nwaebonyi disparaged Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claims against Akpabio, dismissing them as baseless and alleging a pattern of similar accusations in the past.

He referenced an incident involving Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, suggesting that Akpoti-Uduaghan had made false accusations before.
“She accused Reno Omokri of sexual harassment during the time of Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency, even though the young man was already in the U.S. attending to national matters. Unfortunately for her, she did not know that he was outside the country,” Nwaebonyi alleged.
The Ebonyi senator went further by making personal remarks about Akpoti-Uduaghan’s marital history, insinuating that her past relationships discredit her claims.
“At the slightest provocation, she comes out with allegations of sexual harassment. I don’t know what is wrong with this lady. Does she think she is the most beautiful woman on earth? Or is it because she has a chocolate complexion?
“In my assessment, she is not among the most beautiful women in Nigeria. And it is high time we come hard on her,” he stated.
Nwaebonyi insisted that his attacks on Akpoti-Uduaghan were not merely in defense of Akpabio but also aimed at protecting what he called “future victims” of such accusations.
“People like us are speaking out, not just to protect and defend the Senate President, but to protect and defend her future victims. Even her current husband—she forced him into marriage by threatening to sue him,” he claimed.
The controversy surrounding Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension and allegations against Akpabio continues to divide public opinion.
While some lawmakers have rallied behind Akpabio, others believe that the treatment of Akpoti-Uduaghan is an attempt to silence dissent and discourage women from speaking out against harassment and abuse.
Women’s rights activists have called for a strong response to Nwaebonyi’s comments, urging the Senate to uphold ethical conduct and ensure that female lawmakers are treated with respect.
