Enugu, Nigeria – The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, and Minister of Works, David Umahi, have commended the people of the South-East for their decision to abstain from the ongoing nationwide protests.

The leaders expressed their appreciation during an inspection tour of Federal and State road projects in the region on Sunday.

Governor Mbah and Minister Umahi lauded the region’s restraint, noting that by avoiding the protests, the people of the South-East helped prevent potential losses and demonstrated goodwill towards the Federal Government.

Their calm demeanor, the leaders noted, helped to avert unnecessary risks to life, property, and businesses.

Governor Mbah expressed his gratitude to the people for focusing on their daily activities instead of joining the protests. “I want to commend our people greatly for heeding our call to shun the protests and go about their business. We appreciate their understanding of the value of hard work,” Mbah said.

He urged continued patience, suggesting that while the benefits of government policies may not be immediately visible, they are well-intentioned and will yield positive results in time. “We must remain focused and continue to do our work,” he added

Minister Umahi echoed Mbah’s sentiments, highlighting the South-East’s non-participation in the protests as a strong signal of their desire for integration and recognition of the Federal Government’s recent inclusive efforts.

“We are not going to protest. We want proper integration in the affairs of this country,” Umahi said, pointing to recent appointments of Igbo leaders to key positions as evidence of the government’s commitment to the region.

Umahi thanked Governor Mbah for his leadership and expressed appreciation for the other governors and states that also chose not to protest.
