Suicide bombing at Damascus church kills 20, Injures 52; ISIS blamed
A suicide bomber attacked Saint Elias Church in Damascus, Syria, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, killing at least 20 people and injuring 52. Authorities have blamed the Islamic State (IS) group for the attack, which marks the first church attack in Damascus since the civil war began in 2011 and the first major terrorist incident since the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024.
